Who should attend a Mindful Selling™ class or workshop?
While Mindful Selling™ was designed primarily for business people in sales and marketing, people in other departments have also found it useful. Technical people have reported that it helps them understand and communicate better with sales and marketing. Buyers have stated that is has helped them validate reliable offerings. It has also helped buyers distinguish between honorable salespeople, unscrupulous salespeople and people who are simply wasting their time.
We have discovered that the classes and seminars are useful to anyone wishing to positively influence others. As you view our website you will see quotes from some customers who come from domains outside the business world.
Why is the process called Mindful Selling™
The purpose of the workshop is to develop a higher degree of mindfulness in attendees. A high degree of mindfulness will allow an individual to navigate more successfully through a sales cycle. We subscribe to Dr. Ellen Langer’s definition of Mindfulness as “the ability to draw novel distinctions when processing information.” The key elements of this definition include: 1) openness to new information; 2) alertness to distinction; 3) sensitivity to different contexts; 4) awareness of multiple perspectives; 5) an orientation in the present.
Mindfulness can be understood in contrast to Mindlessness where one responds automatically without thinking. Examples of mindless sales behavior include giving prospects a standard sales pitch, making a presentation without knowing your audience, applying sales tactics with one prospect because they may have worked with another prospect. Automatic thinking has its place but sales representatives on continual auto pilot rarely make quota. Mindful sellers are fully engaged. They see more, hear more, feel more, think more, know more, and apply their knowledge in a purposeful manner.
